632 Complete Set of Chambers's Encyclopaedia - 1888 Edition

London, William & Robert Chambers, 1888 to 1892 (second edition, extensively revised). All edges marbled with marbled endpapers. There is some foxing at the beginning of the volumns but overall the condition internally is very good with covers showing trifling signs of age and use. This edition was published 1888 and edited by David Patrick. In this edition, the majority of the articles were rewritten and the articles on American matters were written mainly by Americans and an edition published there by Messrs. Lippincott of Philadelphia so that Lippincott and Chambers could claim relevant copyright in their respective countries. This second edition had extra features such as tables and fold-out maps.
